Perched above the rainforest foothills of Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí, Oropel Lodge is a micro-resort in the making: conceived slowly, built intentionally, and rooted in a deep reverence for the landscape that surrounds it. Founded in 2024 by high school sweethearts reunited after nearly two decades, Oropel offers custom bungalows crafted for comfort and immersion, guided experiences that bring guests into genuine contact with one of the world's most biodiverse ecosystems, and an unhurried approach to growth that places environmental stewardship above all else.

Oropel is located on 50+ private acres of preserved and untamed rainforest in a region known internationally for its natural beauty, clean rivers, birdwatching, animal spotting and photography. The extremely eco-conscious Oropel property is home to abundant wild fauna and flora that continue to flourish under our protection. The photography featured throughout this site is by Daniel Solis. All the animals pictured live at or near Oropel. Their calls and colors routinely fill our skies, and can be intimately and comfortably experienced from the guest accommodations. We maintain a strict zero-interference policy when it comes to wildlife, pursuant with Costa Rican law.
